International Activities Of The RGS

The State General Accounting Department, through some of its inspectorates, maintains numerous relations with different organisations, with the European Union, its member States and third countries, and it also carries out a set of internationally relevant activities internally. The majority of international relations are entertained through the Inspectorate General for Financial Relations with the European Union (Igrue), the Inspectorate General for Economic Affairs (IGAE), the Inspectorate General for Budget Policy (Igpb) and the Research and Development Service (SeSD), with reference to the characteristic institutional responsibilities of each of them.

The spheres of competence for which the State General Accounting Department is required to participate, in representation of Italy, in Committees, Councils and intergovernmental conferences set up at an international level include budgetary policies, financial relations resulting from the participation of Italy in many organisations, advisory and support functions in several areas.

In addition to the relations resulting from institutional activities, officials of the Institute participate in conferences and visits, organised both by several international organisations from Third Countries, aimed at the exchange of information, methodologies and criteria in matters of common interest.

The State General Accounting Department, through some of its offices, also performs a range of other activities of international importance, such as the management and delivery of contributions, the organisation of congresses, conferences and seminars and the receipt of foreign delegations visiting for reasons of study.

Additionally, recently, the State General Accounting Department has intensified its activities, by applying for Twinning Projects funded by the European Union in the framework of the PHARE Programme, to provide support to and collaborate with Countries applying for entry into the European Union.
